PhD financed by Océ

Marius Pedersen ColorlabOcé Print Logic technologies and Gjøvik University College have entered into a agreement on a four year research collaboration. Océ agrees to provide funding Marius Pedersen's PhD studies, in return he will research on problems with relevance for Océ.

Marius Pedersen started on his PhD in August 2007. The Working title of his PhD project is Creation of a metric for perceptual image quality evaluation of color prints. He will research the difference between multiple versions of one picture. - I will develop algorithms to measure the difference between pictures. This is useful for instance if you want to print a picture, the algorithm could select a version of the picture that is best fitted for print, Marius Pedersen explains.

Océ also covers expenses for travelling and staying in Paris for Pedersen. He will go to Océ's office in Paris six times each year. Pedersen has a supervisor for the doctorate at Océ, in addition to Professor Jon Yngve Hardeberg at Gjøvik University College.

Hardeberg is pleased about the agreement with Océ: - I am satisfied to enter this co-operation. It is a milestone and exciting that a company agrees to give financial support to such a long-term research collaboration with the Norwegian Color Research Laboratory.
