PhD scholarship in color imaging

The Norwegian Color Research Laboratory, at the Faculty of Computer Science and Media Technology, at Gjøvik University College in Gjøvik, Norway, calls for applications to a PhD scholarship in the field of color imaging.

Gjøvik University College, a campus of 2500 students and 270 staff and faculty members, consists of three faculties, Faculty of Health, Care and Nursing, Faculty of Engineering, and Faculty of Computer Science and Media Technology. Faculty members, researchers and graduate students are from a diverse and international background with an excellent faculty to student ratio. For more information about Gjøvik University College please refer to http://www.hig.no.

The Norwegian Color Research Laboratory (http://www.colorlab.no) is a research group mainly devoted to colour imaging and related topics. The Colorlab, which was founded in spring 2001, possesses excellent laboratory facilities for colour measurement, colour management, production of digital media, simulation and system optimisation. The Colorlab is a base for extensive R&D activity, ranging from fundamental colour science to applied colour imaging technology. The Colorlab has a strong track record in national and international projects financed for instance by The Norwegian Research Council, as well as with projects for the industry. Lately our participation in the CREATE network (http://www.create.uwe.ac.uk) and the CIMET Erasmus Mundus master program (http://www.master-erasmusmundus-color.eu) is notable.

Applicants should hold a Diploma, MSc, or equivalent academic degree, in Color Imaging, Media Technology, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline, with previous experience in color science and image processing. Fluency in spoken and written English is also required.

Successful applicants will be prepared to make novel contributions to the field of color imaging, and are expected to present and publish in international peer-reviewed conferences and journals. Applicants are required to prepare and submit a research project proposal of 2-4 pages.
